A CRPF official observing Navratra fast was too keen to donate blood here in police line Daltonganj on Friday along with two DSPs Hiralal Ravi and PR Barwar. However this CRPF official's observing Navratra fast was coming in the way of his donating blood.

DIG police Palamu Saket K Singh was of the opinion that this fast gives spiritual strength besides scope of intake of fruits by the fast observer and so the CRPF official must go for a prick for blood. Others in the camp held a different view from medical point of view.

However, five women cops donated blood quite enthusiastically. These woman constables stood in queue and cheerfully donated blood.

It was The Pioneer correspondent who on Thursday had raised this issue of women cops not coming forward to donate blood with the DIG Palamu as the DIG had inaugurated a blood donation camp in Garhwa on Thursday where no woman cop donated any blood there.

The scene was very different in the Daltonganj police line here on Friday. There were more than two dozen women cops ready to donate blood in the camp.

However, more than one and a half dozen women cops were asked not to donate blood as their physical features and general physique were not fit for donation of blood.

DIG Saket told The Pioneer, “We asked many women cops to return without giving blood. This was keeping in view of their physique.  And the brave five women cops who donated one unit each blood did it with great joy.”

One woman cop had come to the camp with her two years old son to show how his mother gives blood for other's life. She had to return disappointed as she was found unfit for blood donation.

There came a woman cop having Nepal's origin who looked bulky but fatigue and sweating was visible on her face in this camp. DIG Saket took a look at her and then asked the desk worker not to go by the bulk of the body but also to look into other aspects of health like no general disability, mark of tension on face, weight any anaemic condition etc. The Nepali looking women cop felt too relieved with DIG's instruction.

Two DSPs namely Hl Ravi and PR Barwar donated blood. Many male cops went donating blood with boots on. Dr KK Singh of the 134 battalion of the CRPF who was monitoring the blood donation camp asked the boot wearing cops to be at ease while donating blood.

The Friday blood donation camp held in the DK Rai martyred DSP memorial hall in Daltonganj police line was attended by SP Palamu Patel Mayur K lal and Commandant 134 battalion CRPF SK linda and second in command S Shekhar. A total of 42 units of blood were collected in this camp.
