This surprising report is of yesterday evening and now both police and public of Charhi are blaming each other for the entire episode. Five people who identified themselves as residents of Chatwal village of Chanho block, Ranchi district were in Charhi since last 2-3 weeks. They started a super bumper lottery scheme here under the banner of Deep public charitable trust.
Each ticket was of Rs200 and the lottery was of 1.80 crore. They have assured the people that on every Sunday there will be a draw in which prizes of Rs20 lacks will be given.
More than 3,000 people have bought the lottery ticket and were eagerly waiting for 27th of April, the day of 1st draw which was scheduled to start in Birsa Football ground from
4 pm. Yesterday evening, a large number of people reached the football ground to see the draw but when after an hour, neither the draw started nor any of the organisers reached the
venue then everyone realised that they have
been cheated.
Churchu Pramukh Sudama Prajapati, Deputy Mukhiya Ramesh Karmali and Mukhiya Anju Singh gave an application in the police station and demanded immediate arrest of the organisers, who were in Charhi at that time. People say that police first took them in custody and then released them.
People are openly blaming the police and it is in talks that in the sell of lottery tickets police was also involved.
On the other hand, Charhi police has its own story. They accept that they have taken an organiser in custody when the people were in anger but he succeeded in escaping by saying that he will come soon with original documents and legal papers related with the lottery scheme.
By that time no one has given any written complaint against them. The cheaters are now absconding and police has some names and addresses which are true or false is a matter of investigation.
The names of miscreants are Falindra Thakur, Sunil Prasad Singh, Dilip Kumar Mahto, Md. Minatullah and Jamil Akhtar. They were living in a rented room since last 15-20 days. It is said that they have sold more than 3,000 tickets so far, in and around Charhi.
Hazaribagh SP Manoj Kaushik said that a team has been formed under the leadership of Charhi police station incharge.
The team members have started the search operation to arrest the absconding criminals and very soon they will be behind the bars.
