45 families still devoid of ration in Garhwa

Forty-five families in Bijka village, Jharkhand, haven't received food rations for 14 months. This has created a serious problem for them.

Deputy Commissioner, Shekhar Jamuar, said that 203 families in the village are getting rations. However, the other 45 families can't get their rations because of problems with online checks.

These families, including widows, elderly women, and two orphaned children, are facing hunger. They say they haven't received rations since January 2024, even after complaining to officials.

The Jharkhand State Food Commission visited the village in January and told the District Supply Officer to give the 45 families extra rations to make up for the missed ones. But the families were only offered rations for two months, which they refused.

The families have now asked the High Court for help.

Manik Chand Korwa, who works with the Right to Food Campaign, has criticised the situation. He says it's unfair to the poor and shows that the government isn't doing its job properly. He has warned of protests if the problem isn't solved quickly.
