Seraikela Kharsawan police have arrested four Maoists involved in massacre of five policemen at the Khukru weekly haat (Market) under Tiruldih Police Station area on June 14.
Acting on a tip off, the police first arrested hard core Maoist Sunil Tudu, who was a part of Maharaj Pramanik squad from Ichagarh block.
When he was grilled, Tudu confessed that the plot was planned by Ramesh alias Anal and included Maharaj Pramanik, Amit Munda, Atul, Tipu alias Tipra, Budhram Mardi, Ramu alias Ramnaresh Lohar, Shriram Manjhi and many members of the squad. They executed the massacre.
Based on the inputs provided by Sunil Tudu, the police arrested hardcore naxalite Budhram Mardi, Ram alias Ramnaresh Lohar and Shriram Manjhi, who were involved in the crime. Police have recovered banned booklet, two bikes and mobile phones.
While disclosing the entire case, SP Kartik S said that before the incident the Maoists had studied activities of the policemen deployed on duty. After thorough study about police activity the plan was taken to execute the incident, all were given different responsibilities. However, the police have not yet recovered any weapons from these Naxalites.
DIG Kolhan Kuldeep Diwedi said that the arrest of four hardcore Naxals is a major breakthrough in the case in which five brave men lost their lives. The police are committed to carry on further intensive operation till each perpetrator who was involved in the above incident is caught. The operations in the area will continue with increased intensity till the Naxals are wiped off.
Five policemen were killed as CPI-Maoist rebels attacked a patrol party at Khukru block under Chandil sub-divisional in adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district, about 70 Kms away from here on June 14. The rebels who had come in two bikes attacked the police party which was patrolling at the vicinity of a weekly-haat known as Khukru haat under Tiruldih thana area in Khukru block at about 6.30 pm. The rebels who were reportedly six in number had killed the policemen by attacking them with knives and later killing them with small guns. Having killed them, they took away the rifles of the cops and fled.
