Three of the injured, including a Mobile Tiger cop have been admitted at the Tata Main Hospital, whereas a third one has been admitted at the MGM Medical College Hospital.

The one, who was killed on the spot was identified as Chandan Karmakar, a Tata Cumins employee, whereas other injured were identified as Ajit Peter Toppo (26) who is a Mobile Tiger, Amarpreet Singh (28), Kammu Majhi (25) and Ramesh Singh (28).

The first mishap took place on Straight Mile Road under Bistupur police station when a police bike was hit by another bike near the United Club crossing.

Three bike-borne miscreants were in a looting spree on the Straight Mile Road at about 10.30 pm. Soon, a police party from Bistupur police station arrived at the scene led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (city) Animesh Nathani.  The police rushed Toppo and the another injured, Amarpreet to Tata Main Hospital.

The second mishap took place at Golmuri at about midnight, when Majhi and Karmakar were returning their home at suburban Govindpur area near Telco.  Majhi was riding the bike with Karmakar sitting pillion.

As they were crossing the Golmuri-Telco Road, they rammed into a divider, causing Karmakar to die on the spot.

OC, Golmuri, Arun Kumar Mahatha said Majhi was wearing a helmet, this is why he escaped with injuries.

" We are investigating the mishap. As per our information, the bike was at a break-neck speed and the impact of the mishap was so severe that both the wheels of the bike were dismantled. The pillion rider Karmakar was without helmet and thus died on the spot.  But still we rushed both the victims to Tata Main Hospital emergency where the doctors on duty declared Karmakar as brought dead," said Mahatha.
