Two brothers and nephew of former chairman of Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board Thakur Balmukund Nath Shahdeo were shot dead brutally by suspected Maoists here late on Saturday night.
Sixty-two-year Thakur Bal Kishor Nath Shahdeo, 60 year-old Jai Kishor Nath Shahdeo and 38-year-old Thakur Pramod Nath Shahdeo had gone to Bhandra at Sangidih for picnic with other members from their paternal home Murmu of Peshrar block on Saturday.
The squad of Nakul Yadav kidnapped the trio and took them to the jungle of Sahaida Paat. They then took the trio 100 metres away from Jan Adalat beat them and after that shot them to death. According to the sources, the suspected Maoists had got the information of movement of the family and they went there with 100 others.
From the site six empty cashes of 315mm bullets were recovered. On getting the information lohardaga SP Manoj Ratan Chothe and latehar Police rushed with full forces at the site on Sunday. The bodies were taken to the Sadar hospital of latehar district, and then handed over to the other members of the family.
Sources said for last 25 years at Murmu village of Peshrar block situated at the border of lohardaga and latehar, the family had been confronting the Maoists. Before it, the family was attacked by Maoists four times. But still they confronted with them boldly. Situated amidst the dense forest the village Murmu and nearby areas are considered safe zone foe the Maoists. There is a police picket near the house of Shahdeo.
Thakur Balmukund Nath Shahdeo said, “The Maoists had shown their cowardice. Shahdeos used to work for the welfare of people. Because of this Maoists were unable to run their membership programme and their goals he was the obstacle in their work. So they did not dare to confront him and did this cowardice act.”
SP Manoj Ratan Chothe said, “The squad of Nakul Yadav has done this brutal act. Thakur Saheb was very famous and had been running campaign against them for last 25 years. After the incident the whole area had been sealed. And to nab the Maoists search operations are being run.”
On the site of incident, lohardaga SP Manoj Ratan Chothe, latehar Police officer, MP-cum-Central Rural minister Sudarshan Bhagat, Neel Kanth Singh Munda, lohardaga MlA Kamal Kishor Bhagat, DGP and DIG were present.
As per the sources after the incident the Maoists also released the video of the brutal incident. A number of well wishers and the denizens of the district kept on visiting their home to console the family.
