A three-member delegation from the Government of Jharkhand went to USA to represent the State at the Annual Regional Pravasi Bharatiya Divas held at los Angeles, in USA. The delegation was led by Principal Secretary, Department of Industries, UP Singh.
In the course of two-day event at los Angeles, a variety of potential investors met the delegation and participated in the meetings. Navin Gupta, whose team was looking to invest in the Knowledge City being developed in Jharkhand were made aware of the recent IT Policies adopted by the State Government for which they conveyed their appreciation. The next round of intensive dialogue will be held in Jharkhand in January 2016 with Gupta and his team.
Another meeting was held with Director of the BIT Sindri Alumni Association of North America Anil Singh, The Alumni Association has raised One Million Dollar (`6.7 crore) to invest in the development and upgradation of BIT Sindri. They have requested for a MoU to be signed with the Government of Jharkhand in December, which is soon going to be finalised.
On Day two, a presentation was made by UP Singh before all the participants of the Pravasi Bhartiya Divas about the investment opportunities present, the new policies adopted by the state and the recent success achieved by Jharkhand in the ‘Ease of Doing Business’.
As a result of the interest generated due to the presentation a variety of investors came to meet the delegation. Notable amongst those were Tamkhane who would like to invest in the setting up of Drone Development and Production Centre; Safi Mather of M-urgency, which specializes in Medical Emergency Responses, Help and life Foundation headed by Burman, who wants to replicate the charity work, she is doing with the prisoners in USA in the prisons of Jharkhand.
There was also a meeting held in Kansas with the Indian Association of Kanas City for exploring opportunities for the development of Maternal and Child Super Specialty Hospital by a team of doctors led by Mayank Gupta. A discussion was also held with Vijay Ainapurapu with regard to setting up of a computer skilling initiative under the aegis of the Microsoft Edukinct Programmes which shall allowed for career oriented training for the studentsof Jharkhand.
