Three people were killed when an overloaded auto-rickshaw was hit by a truck in a head-on collision near Maharana Pratap Chowk at Jhumaritelaiya on Thursday. While one of the victim died on the spot, the second one was declared brought and the third victime collapsed during medication at Sadar Hospital Koderma. Nine others were seriously injured. Three of them have been referred for better treatment to Ranchi.
The deceased and injured were workers and were returning from a marriage function. The accident took place at about 4 am. The outraged relatives of the victims and locals blocked NH 31 for three hours and demanded compensation to victims and arrest of the truck driver. The protesters burnt tyres. They were also protesting for non-cooperation of a private nursing home. According to the protestors, the police took the injured persons to the clinic for first aid but the nursing home didn’t help them.
