DFO Core of tiger reserve Palamu AK Mishra is leaving for a three-month course in recovery of endangered species of wildlife in Kent University in london.

Sources said the State Government has allowed the foreign tour of this PTR official Mishra along with another DFO World Food Programme Premjit Anand and one official of the PCCF office Ranchi Tarak Nath.

DFO core of the PTR, Mishra has confirmed the foreign tour of these three officials including him.

Sources said the final go for this foreign tour came from the Chief Minister Raghubar Das.

The State Government is to bear Rs9 lakh each for this three-month tour. So, in total, Rs27 lakh. Mishra confirmed this.

Sources said the course of recovery of endangered species of wildlife will see four from India in Kent University. Among the four three are from Jharkhand. One is from Pune.

An excited AK Mishra told The Pioneer, “There should be a concerted effort to conserve the dwindling population of endangered species of wildlife. Bison is out completely from Bareysarn in PTR. So, is the pathetic condition of Sambhar. The total count of Sambhar in PTR is just 13. It is now seriously endangered. Its recovery is a must.”

Asked that care, conservation and recovery of endangered species is done with great passion and energy in countries like England but here in PTR, there is no wildlife specialist vet doctor Mishra said “Things will improve.”

However, field director tiger project PTR AS Rawat was more candid when he told The Pioneer, “Sometimes we take the services of compounder of animal husbandry office here for autopsy and preservation of viscera in the event of death of any wildlife in the PTR.”

Rawat did not stop here when he said, “It is very difficult to preserve blood sample, serum collection of dead wildlife, etc as PTR has no expert hand of its own.”

The Kent University has teamed up with Durrell Wildlife Conservation Academy in Jersey.
