Paving way for the release of three innocent youths – Ajit Kumar, Amarjeet Kumar and Abhimanyu alias Monu being lodged at Birsa Munda Central Jail for the last several months on murder charges, Ranchi Police on Friday filed ‘final form’ in the court of Judicial Magistrate SB Sharma, requesting to release them in the wake of the witnesses which surfaced before it in the last few months. The three youths are likely to come out of jail tomorrow as the court has accepted the petition.

“The Police, calling it a factual mistake on Friday submitted ‘final form’ before the court saying that the chargesheet had been filed due to mistake and should be treated as a factual mistake,” said Public Prosecutor BM Sharma. The petition was submitted by the Investigating Officer by the order of DIG Ranchi.

Sharma said that the court has accepted the petition and the three youths may be released anytime after the release order reaches to the jail authorities.

The case has raised serious doubts over the functioning of police in the State, where innocent people are put behind bars without even investigating it properly. The CID will now try to find out the motive behind the plot prepared in shielding the facts on the part of Priti’s family and the police.

Investigating abilities of police came under scanner when Priti surfaced, declared dead by them after more than a year thus exposing the loopholes in their investigation method which led to sentencing of three youths about a year ago. The crime was established on  the basis of the claims made on the charred body that was recovered at Bundu by Priti’s parents under mysterious circumstances under which the accused confessed to the crime.

The girl was reported to be dead on February 15, 2013 and based on the confessions three youths were put behind bars in connection with the case. However, after more than a year of the case, the girl surfaced only to highlight the miscarriage of justice by subverting facts and suppressing truths.

Taking swift action, DGP Rajiv Kumar suspended the concerned police officials along with the investigating officer of the case seeking an explanation form DSP Bundu Ram Sarek Rai. The case was handed over to the CID to investigate into the matter. Decision was taken by the DGP after a meeting held with the ADG (CID) SN Pradhan, IG (Ranchi Zone) MS Bhatia and Ranchi SSP Prabhat Kumar.
