Giridih police on Saturday arrested three cyber criminals from different locations in the city who were involved in swapping ATM cards at ATM kiosks, hacking ATM machines and doing fraudulent online shopping for the last several months in all over India.
The arrested criminals were Chet lal Mandal belonging to Nimtard,Tundi,Dhanbad, Pritam Kumar Mandal and Pawan Kumar Mandal of Visunupur in Bengabad area,both in Giridih district.
Police also recovered 3Adhar cards, pluser motorcycle bearing registration number JH-11U 3674 from Chet lal Mandal, while ATM 2 Mobiles 2,and one Maruti car,from Pritam Kumar Mandal
Giridih SDPO,Manish Toppo said that they used to hack ATM machines after which in guise of helping customers, the arrested persons swapped victim’s ATM cards and know the PIN codes which they used to feed in machine while withdrawing money. He said the ATM cards of victims were later also used in online shopping of Rs 50,000 of date.
Police sources said the others gang,s main masterminds were still evading arrest. They said more than dozens were earlier arrested by Giridih police too.The police have registered case 185/18 under 412,420,467,471,34, IPC and 60/6,C,D of IT.
