A Common Engineering Facility Centre (CEFC) has been initiated by HEC under the aegis of “CEFC Pratham Foundation” founded under the scheme of “Enhancement of Competitiveness in the Indian Capital Goods Sector’’, of the Department of Heavy Industry, Government of India.
CEFC Pratham Foundation has been created to play a vital role in training and development of skilled manpower to address the skill gap in the Capital Goods Sector for manufacturing of critical components and equipments for heavy engineering industries, such as defence, nuclear, power, steel, aerospace, etc.
HEC has tied up with CNIITMASH, which is the State Research Centre of Russian Federation to design and conduct advanced short term technical training programmes in the areas of Steel Technologies, Welding Technology, Gear Technology and Non-destructive Testing for experienced and fresh Engineers.
Scientists and experts from CNIITMASH have designed the above specialized courses suiting to the Indian Industries and its environment and the same have been vetted by both premier Institutes like IIT-Kharagpur and NIFFT-Ranchi. Experts from CNIITMASH would be the lead trainers till the time the indigenous faculties are developed.
CEFC Pratham Foundation launched its 2nd training course on Heat-treatment Technology for Steel today at NIFFT-Ranchi. Engineers from 12 different organization, such as BEMl, BARC, NPCIl, Rourkela Steel Plant, Durgapur Steel Plant, Alloy Steel Plant, Bokaro Steel Plant, SAIl–RDCIS, SAIl–CET, TATA Motors, HEC and CEFC Pratham Foundation are participating in this one and a half weeks course.
HEC CMD Avijit Ghosh, while inaugurating the training programme, touched upon the salient features of CEFC and highlighted the benefits this course can provide to the participants and the organizations they represented. He also appreciated the fact that participants from different sectors like Steel, Nuclear, Heavy Engineering, Automobile and Research & Development provided a rich blend to the programme.
