A 25-year-old woman was murdered at Ghorabandha under Govindpur police station area near Telco township early Tuesday morning. The murder victim identified as Namita Patro had her throat slit.
According to relatives, Namita was in advanced stage of pregnancy. She had gone out of her house in Dalkan Colony on Sunday morning, but did not return, leading her parents to search for her at the relatives' house.
But this morning her body was found lying in bushes on the way to Sai Temple near Ghorabandha. According to the relative, Namita was married to Raju Tanti five years ago and had a three-year-old son who was at home along with her grand-mother when the victim's body was recovered.
The relatives said Raju, who has a furniture shop at Seraikela in the adjoining Seraikela Kharsawan district had an extra-marital affair and claimed Namita was murdered by her husband. "We are in shock. As per my knowledge from past few years, Raju had started abusing Namita as he has an extra-marital affair with a girl in Seraikela. We are sure that Namita was murdered by her husband who wanted remarry," said a relative.
In this connection, the police have registered FIR filed by Namita's mother Suchitra Patro with the Govindpur police station against Raju Tanti.
The police have sent it to the MGM Medical College mortuary for post-mortem. Officer-in-charge, Govindpur police station, Varun Kumar confirmed it to be a case of murder. He said that the investigation was on.
