25 Kgs marijuana in cattle shed in Palamu

Published on:

Harihurganj police in Palamu have seized 25 kgs of marijuana hidden in a cattle shed in the market area.

Sudama Kr Das inspector of police cum officer in charge of the Harihurganj police station said one Manoj Sao fled from the cattle shed on seeing the police team coming towards his cattle shed. Sources said as the locality is congested police are to walk down and this makes the police most visible and its mission goes public too.

Manoj Sao took the same advantage and escaped. Police took along with it the CO of Harihurganj to act as magistrate on the spot as the contraband marijuana was seized in the presence of a magistrate.  Das said we were careful to have with us a magistrate and CO Harihurganj fit this bill most since it was a seizure of marijuana. The premise in which the cattle shed is run and behind its facade smuggling of marijuana was done, is all an open space and hence it could not be sealed.

Police officer Das said there were cows there and cattle shed in the open space didn’t call for any sealing of the premises. The premise has only boundary walls around, he added. The 25 kg marijuana was in three bags, Das said. Odisha is the latest marijuana smuggling centre as this contraband narcotic comes to Jharkhand by express trains and by national highways, said sources.

The police officer said Manoj Sao will be in our net soon. A case under narcotics act has been registered against Manoj Sao, said sources.
