Daltonganj Police is already carrying over the probe of two equally sensitive murders — one of a former CPI(Maoist) Rajinder Singh Kharwar and a night guard of a coaching institute — as both of them were gunned down in the town. The night guard was killed at night while Kharwar and a 21-year-old youth identified as Niraj Sinha were killed in day light.
Niraj was shot at in Namdhari colony on Friday afternoon and later succumbed to his injuries in the hospital where all efforts were made to revive him but in vain. Patel Mayur Kanhaiya lal the Palamu SP has confirmed the day light shootout and said the youth’s love affair is said to have triggered this heinous crime.
Patel Mayur said the family of the deceased had told the police about the love affair. The girl in question has been brought to the police station said the SP. Police would take out the call details of the cell phone of the deceased added the SP. Patel Mayur said the killing could be the handiwork of any mercenary killer as the crime was not only a pre-planned one but meticulously carried out.
Patel said two youths were watching when the assailant committed the crime. Police have sealed the entry/exit of the town and a manhunt is on to nab the killer, but, the problem with the police is that there is no eye witness account of this crime.
