Chief Minister Raghubar Das on Wednesday said that the year 2017 is a very important year for the State of Jharkhand when scores of development projects will take shape and open new dimensions of growth for a State that has remained devoid of prosperity despite possessing wealth. The CM, while counting the achievements of the Government, expressed satisfaction on the rate of development during the last two years and also appealed to political parties, bureaucrats and the common masses to actively participate in making of a “powerful State”.

“Investments in the tune of Rs44,309 crore have already been done during the last two years out of which Rs23,000 crore is of Food Processing industry. Four Textile companies are among the investors list, which include industries like cement, food processing, software, tools, etc. We have talked to major industries in the State to provide employment to skilled youths here only,” said the CM in a ceremony organised at his residence here on Wednesday.

While disclosing some of the Government’s plan for the year 2017 the CM said that the foundations of two new flyovers in Ranchi will be put up within 2-3 months. Also, 675 acre land in the HEC area for New Ranchi, Rs106 crore will be spent in construction of Birsa Munda Shaurya Smarak will be made at old Birsa Munda Central jail and there are plans to set up water treatment plants to make use of the waste water in the cities, he added.

“Any Government’s performance could be measured by finding out how many problems it has solved that already existed as legacy of former governments and how strong it has laid the foundation for future. We defined the domicile policy of the State pending for over 16 years. It has opened doors of employment for the youths of Jharkhand. We simplified existing laws and did administrative reforms. People’s participation has increased in development work being carried out by the government,” said Das.

The CM said that rods, water and electricity are the three focus areas of the government in the infrastructure sector, especially in the villages because 60-70% people of the State live in village.

Stressing on the need of positivity in bureaucracy das said that governance should be freed from excessive red-tapism. “Bureaucrats need to learn saying ‘yes’ and politicians need to learn saying ‘No’. Those officials who don’t want to work may leave because we will ensure that the government machinery works properly here,” he said.

The CM said that corruption at the higher level has been completely eradicated by the government. “Our biggest achievement is to have a spotless government in last two years. At the lower levels too we are trying to eradicate corruption in the State,” he asserted, adding that the faith of people has increased in the government in last two years. .

The CM also revealed a plan of organising ‘Chintan Shivir’ for Ministers and Government officials. “We will hold three-day camps to where Ministers, senior and junior officers will discuss ideas and share their views for betterment of the State. We have to build Team Jharkhand for success. These achievements are not mine but are of the team that has been working continuously for development of the State,” said Das.

Towards the end of his address CM became emotional as he choked up asking for forgiveness if he committed any mistake in his two year tenure. “Janta hi bhagwan hai. Bhagwan saath ho to koi galti nahi hogi. Ghareeb pariwar ke mazdoor ko rajya ka mukhya sewak banana ke liye dhanyawaad. (People are the God. If God is with you no mistake can happen. I thank people for making a poor labourer the chief servant of this State),” said the CM.
