A youth identified as Rajesh Yadav beat his 19-year old wife to death after he was irked by a case of dowry harassment lodged by the victim against him in Saria police station here on Friday. The youth hit his woman repeatedly with traditional weapons and felled her body into a room at Nawadih village in Giridih .later, he along with other family members escaped from the house and are on the run ,said police in charge Sonu Kumar Chaudhary.
According to reports, a newly married woman Sunita Kumari daughter of Ganesh Yadav was beaten to death by in-laws after her failed to provide dowry articles. The body was later hanged from the thatched roof to give it a look of suicide. A case of murder was lodged against some family members on the complaint of woman’s father Ganesh Yadav.
As per information provided by the Saria police, Ganesh Yadav of Goraya Nawadih village under the Saria police station married his daughter Sunita (19) with Rajesh Yadav of Nawadih village under the same police station in April 2016. Following ‘gauna’ Sunita reached her in-laws house a year ago. Soon after, she was tortured by in-laws as their demand of cash and other goods was not fulfilled. Her father told the cops that he had promised to gift the all thing once his financial condition improved. However, the tortured continued. On Friday morning, he received calls from Nawadih informing that his daughter was beaten to death. Ganesh Yadav reached there along with his family and found Sunita’s body hanging from the roof. There were injury marks all over the body.
The officer-in charge Sonu Kumar Chaudhary said the actual cause of murder would be revealed after the postmortem report. Officer said that the accused were absconding but would be arrested soon.
