Section 144 imposed in Bhagmara blockAshis Sinha n Dhanbad
Security has been beefed-up and Section 144 was imposed following a clash between two communities in the Bhagmara (Katras) block of Dhanbad district on Friday noon.
Clash erupted when a procession organised on the eve of ‘Shaurya Diwas’ was passing through Chhatabandh in Bhagmara block area. Opposing the procession members of the other community started pelting stones on other, said an eyewitness.
“The brick-batting continued for over two hours with the nearby shops bearing the maximum brunt”, said another eyewitness.
At least 12 people were injured in the clash following a rally organised by Bajrang Dal activists on ‘Shaurya Diwas’, police said. “The incident took place at around 11.30 am when clashes broke out following a dispute between two groups. They indulged in heavy stone and brick-batting. later others also joined the mob”, added police.
Dhanbad DC Prashant Kumar, SP Anup T Mathew with other senior officials camped hear said “Prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the IPC were imposed. The situation is now peaceful and under control; additional police forces were deployed”.
