Body of woman found, RAPE-murder SUSPECTED
Jamshedpur: Nude body of a 32-year-old woman was found lying at a slum area in Bhalubasa under the Sitaramdera police station area on Wednesday morning. The body was identified of Anju Munda, a resident of Bhalubasa. Injury marks were found on her chest and on the back. The police suspect it to be a case of rape and murder. Superintendent of police (city) Kartik S who visited the scene of murder in the morning pressed a sniffer dog so as to trace the killers of the woman who regularly used to move around the locality in a drunken state. The Sitaramdera police station’s officer-in-charge, Deepak Kumar too arrived at the spot. Kartik said that it is too early to comment whether she was raped or not. The body has been sent to the MGM Medical College for post-mortem. Kartik said the woman was a divorcee, and would stay with her daughter who was recently married, leaving the victim quite alone. The police have started an investigation.
Huge crowd witnesses Ravana Dahan
lohardaga: The pious festival of Durga Puja was celebrated with a lot of fervor and joy in the district failing the threat of cyclone Phailin. However the effects of the cyclone fear was noted among the citizens caused by the continuous drizzling at the nights of Saptami, Ashtami and Navami. Due to this a decision was taken by the Central Durga Puja Committee of the district for ritualistic drowning of the idols and Ravana Dahan to do after a day of the scheduled date. Hence on Oct 15 the act of Ravana Dahan was performed at Bakshi Dipa ground in the fair of Deshehra. On this occasion the Puja Pandals were also distributed prizes for their great decoration. At the moment MlA KK Bhagat, head of the Central Durga Puja Committee Rajiv Ranjan, many police and administrative officials and citizens were present. The programme was headed and directed by Rajiv Ranjan. In this occasion an attractive crackers show was played too.
Durga Puja Committees FElICITATED
lohardaga: On the occasion of Dashmi many Durga Puja Committees were felicitated for their active participation. In this BID was given first prize for its Attractive Pandal decoration, second Barwa Toli, third Hatia Garden and fourth prize were given to Mahaveer Chouk. likewise for light decoration BID got first, Chunni lal Upper Bazar second and Tiwary Dura got third prize. For management Barwa Toli got first, BID second and Hatia Garden third prize.
MEET OF DISTRICT PRESIDENTS on October 19
Ranchi: A meeting of all district presidents and Block in charge of state Congress will be held on October 19 headed by the Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee (JPCC) president Sukhdeo Bhagat in Ranchi where a review will be done on the reports submitted by them regarding the programmes conducted in their constituencies. A thorough discussion will also take place on the future plan of action. All India Congress Committee Secretary and MP Tarachand Bhagora will also take part in the meeting.
