Giridih police recovered half naked body of an unidentified 20-year old girl near Usari River under the Taratard police station on Sunday morning.
The throat was slit open. Police in charge of Taratard police station R.K. Rana said police have not ruled out the possibility of rape before the murder.
The body was sent to the Giridih sadar hospital for postmortem. No weapon, was found at the scene, with which the crime could have possibly been committed, police said.
A case of homicide against unidentified persons has been registered in this connection. Investigators said they were trying to find out the identity of the deceased .No headway could be made till Sunday evening. Senior officer said “We have sent teams to local villages with the photograph. So far ,it seems to be a murder case, only after receiving the autopsy report we can say whether she was raped.
