Two members of a gang involved in theft of luggage of passengers in trains were arrested by Railway Protection Force under East Central Railway in Gaya on Saturday. Neelanchal Express arrived at 2.47 am at PF No.1, and from S-5 coach two persons alighted from the train with a big and heavy red coloured trolley suitcase. On suspicion the Crime prevention & detection team under SIPF Vikram Deo interrogated the persons about the luggage to which the persons did not give proper answer.
They were properly interrogated and the team recovered four future journey tickets from each of them and this further raised the suspicion, said Ajay Prakash Inspector RPF Gaya.
The RPF Inspector said that after about 20 minutes the escort party traced the passenger Amit Gupta who was travelling in S-5 coach and his red trolley suitcase was found missing.
The RPF sources said that the apprehended persons were brought to RPF Post and they disclosed their names as Prayag Jha alias Pradeep Singh age 60 years son of late Pappu Jha under Dudhpura PS, in Samastipur district in Bihar while has been identified as Puran Sahni age 41son of late Ratan Sahni a resident of Dadanpur in Samastipur in Bihar.
Both were also having confirmed journey tickets of the same train in S-5 and S-3 SL coach from Taranagar to Gaya Jn.
Following confirmed future journey tickets of different night trains were also recovered from both persons having train no 12308 Gaya to Howrah on dated 8.1.2022, while other three tickets of train no. 13005 Howrah to Patna on dated 9.01.2022, train no. 12296 Danapur to Mirzapur on dated 10.01.22 and teain no.15631 DDU to Patna on dated 11.01.2022.
RPF, Gaya also the following items recovered from their possession are 2 Sets of Gold bearings, One Gold ring, small electric weighting machine used by jewellers. Cash ? 8,650 and red colour big suitcase in locked condition. They confessed to have stolen the above articles from train no.12875; of S-5 coach.
On further interrogation and after contacting respective GRPs it was revealed that earlier following cases no 183/2020 dated 08.11.2020, u/s 380, 411, 414 IPC. registered with GRP, Prayagraj an case no.120/17 dated 18.01.17 u/s 414, 34 IPC at GRP Dhanbad against accused Prayag Jha. While case vide CR no.86/15 dated 25.7.15 u/s 379 IPC was registered with GRP Dhanbad against 2nd accused Puran Sahni.
Passenger Amit Gupta was contacted and case vide CR no.11/22 u/s 379,411 & 414 IPC dated 08.01.22 has been registered by GRP Gaya against both the accused. Further action is under process, added Ajay Prakash Inspector RPF Gaya.
