Two persons have been arrested in an alleged gangrape case by a doctor and his two associates in Hazaribagh on Monday. The arrest was made after a woman alleged that a doctor and his two associates gangraped her in a hotel at Bagodar, Giridih, on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday. On the complaint of the victim, police first lodged a case and started search operation to arrest the accused. Till the time of filing of this report police had arrested both associates of the doctor. The doctor is still absconding.
As per the statement given by the victim, on September 23 morning, she went to a shop situated in Matwari Mohalla of the town to have a cup of coffee and to purchase some eatable items. As she reached there, she saw Dr Santosh who works as eye specialist in Rohini Seva Sadan, Demotand. Since both were known to each other so they started talking.
During talks, the doctor proposed her to accompany him to Tatijharia where he has to purchase some sweets. She accepted the proposal and sat in the car of the doctor. When the car reached Singhani Village, two friends of the doctor standing on roadside accompanied them, she said.
When the car was not stopped at Tatijharia, she asked the doctor, who said they have some important work in Bagodar and while returning they will purchase the sweets, said the victim.
They reached Bagodar where a room was already booked in Hotel Jaiswal. Doctor and his friends asked her to wait in the room and went outside saying that they are going to meet some persons. After sometime, they came back in the room with liquor and some eatables, said the victim.
“They started taking the drink and when I opposed and tried to move out from there, they forcibly caught me and put on the bed. They raped me one-by-one and then they slept. Early morning at 3 am, I escaped from the room and reached Bagodar bus stand and then came back to Hazaribagh,” said the victim.
After receiving the complaint Korrah TOP police lodged case under Section 376D and started investigation and arrest excercise. TOP in-charge Rama Shankar Mishra and his team have arrested the two friends namely Umesh Yadav and Rakesh Gupta from Bagodar. During search of the hotel room police seized some important clues related with this case. The accused doctor is still absconding and search operation is on to nab him. The TOP in-charge said that during investigation, they have come to know that seven people are involved in this gangrape case. SP Anoop Birthare said that the investigation is going in right direction and soon the doctor will be behind the bars.
