A barking deer was poached in the core division of tiger reserve Palamu . The poaching took place in compartment number 2 said sources in Chhipadohar range.
Stating this DFO Core PTR A K Mishra said PTR personnel have seized 10 Kgs of the meat of the hunted deer. A sample of it has been preserved for test in Wild life Institute of India Dehradun.
Hide of the deer was destroyed by the hunters. PTR personnel have nabbed two hunters identified as Beerbal Oraon and Raj Kumar Singh. Both hail from the village Jaroohaar. A raid in their houses led to the seizure of a muzzle loaded gun also. Mishra said there were some felled wood in their houses.
PTR has drawn cases in Wild life Protection Act , Arms Act and for felling of tree and hiding timber of the PTR . One more hunter Perwesh Singh is at large.
Three days back a wild boar was poached in which two poachers were arrested in te core division.
Sources said in a week’s time 4 poachers have been arrested and two wild lives one wild boar and this latest one the barking deer were hunted by the meat hungry poor villagers.
