The State BJP has said that the proposal brought by the Hemant Soren government in the Cabinet on Khatiyan based on 1932 land records survey for local policy and 27 per cent OBC reservation is not legally valid. The meeting of the BJP core committee on both the subjects was held in the BJP state office late last evening. In this meeting held in semi-virtual mode, State President and MP Deepak Prakash, Leader of Legislature Party and former Chief Minister Babulal Marandi, Organization General Secretary Karamveer Singh, Union Minister of State Annapurna Devi, MP Sunil Singh, former MP Ravindra Kumar Rai, MLA Neelkanth Singh Munda, MP Samir Oraon among others attended the meet.
Later Deepak Prakash said that the Bharatiya Janata Party has always been an advocate for the reservation of the weaker and backward sections of the society. After the creation of the Jharkhand State, the first BJP-led government had made a provision for reservation with a view to fulfilling the aspirations of the citizens of the State. In which the provision of total reservation was 73 per cent including 32 per cent for Scheduled Tribe (Tribal) community, 14 per cent for Scheduled Caste (SC) community, 27 per cent for OBC community. But the High Court quashed it. The government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been serious about the reservation of OBCs since the beginning. In this view, along with providing constitutional status to the OBC Commission, it has also done the work of giving maximum representation in the government and the party, the Bharatiya Janata Party is committed to the development of the weaker, backward and economically backward sections of the society.
The State government of BJP had decided to conduct a survey in the State to make 27 per cent reservation legal in order to give 27 per cent reservation to the backward society in the state of Jharkhand, but the present government stopped that survey work so that this society should be given legal reservation.
Prakash also said that BJP is for the all-round development of the tribal and moolvasis of State and to establish partnership and identity for the government and government services. Under the leadership of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, on 15 November 2000 State of Jharkhand was formed. As soon as the first government was formed in the state under the leadership of BJP, the initiative was started to define the locality and planning policy. The state government convened an all-party meeting and on the basis of the unanimous decision of that meeting, in order to define the locality in the cabinet, whose ancestors' name is recorded in the last survey (rights of record) of the State, considering them as local. It was decided to give priority in giving appointments in the service in third and fourth grade category, but the High Court cancelled it. The Bharatiya Janata Party is in favour of a lawful and unanimous decision respecting the public sentiment. We are in favour of any such decision which is in the interest of the people of Jharkhand.
