As many as 19 panchayats of Bermo block in Bokaro district were today declared open defecation free (ODF) under the Central’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Toilets have been built in all the houses of the Bermo block panchayats as part of the Swachh Bharat Mission ,executed in association with local self government bodies ,said Bhola Shankar Mahto ,district Welfare Officer ,Bokaro at Jubilee park in Bokaro Thermal here on world environmental day.
According to reports the declaration for the Bermo block D-panchayat was done by the district welfare officer Bhola Shankar Mahto at a function held at Jubilee Park on Monday. While others panchayats A,B,C,F,Boria north ,Boria south ,Jarandih ,south ,Jarandih north ,Jaridih east, Jaridih west, Bermo east, Bermo south ,Bermo west ,Kurpania ,Badkaro west and Badkaro east ,were declared at different places in different function ,sources said .
Speaking on the occasion, the district welfare officer Bhola Shankar Mahto said a project to provide houses to all homeless in the areas was under the consideration of the government.
The state government has fulfilled the dreams of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in making the Swachhta Abhiyan a people movement and now Jharkhand had joined the top state in the country in this line ,Mahto said appreciating the efforts of the DC ,Bokaro Rai Mahipat Ray in making “Clean India Mission a success “
S.B. Singh, mukhiya, presided over the meeting, local body members, Naresh Chanchal, Sanjay Prasad ,Moti Mahto ,and others officials who achieved the ODF feat .
