18-wheeler truck catches fire in Palamu

Published on:

An 18-wheel container truck loaded with plastic sheets caught fire in Chainpur block of Palamu early morning on Sunday, when it came in contact with high transmission lines.

A fire brigade van which reached Chainpur from Daltonganj doused the fire after huge efforts, as the flames on the container were as high as 15 feet.

Sunit Kumar, inspector cum officer in charge of Chainur police station said, “The container was burnt due to driver’s fault. Had he been careful it would not have come in contact with the overhead electricity transmission lines.”

He added, “The driver should not have negotiated this narrow route.”

However, driver and his apprentice remained unhurt.

The container had plastic consignment from Kolkata for Vinod Sao in Chainpur.

The owner of the container who is from Haryana is on way to Chainpur, informed police.

Meanwhile, the driver is in a state of shock and unable to talk much about the incident.
