The executive committee of Ranchi District Bar Association will be reconstituted as hundreds of advocates affiliated to the association exercised their franchise on Friday to elect the new committee besides voting for new president, vice-president and office bearers of the association.
As many as 1,699 voters of a total of around 2,063 voted for the four posts of the association. The association was dissolved by the general body after the former members and office bearers were blamed for irregularities. Results for various posts will be announced by tomorrow evening.
“The results for the post president, vice-president will be announced tomorrow whereas result for the executive committee will be announced in next 2-3 days,” said member of the election committee of the association, Arvind Singh.
As many as 98 candidates are in poll fray to find place in the 39-member executive body which was dissolved by the general body. Election for the various posts is being conducted after the district association distanced itself from the State Bar Council and decided to part ways by electing new executive body afresh.
Sources in the civil court confided that the association has chosen to act as per the norms of the Societies Registration Act and has parted ways from the State Bar Council by convening election as per the provisions of the Act.
