Sunny Toppo, a 16-year-old boy from Piska, turned up at CM Janta Darbar on Wednesday, where Welfare Minister louis Marandi heard his pleas of freedom for his aunt, who is in the clutches of human trafficking.

Telling his story, Sunny told the Minister that one Sanjay lohra from Gumla, who used to frequent his locality near Piska More, befriended him and promised a job in New Delhi with salaries up to Rs7,000. Sanjay then forced Sunny, his paternal aunt and one more woman into coming with him to Chandwatori first and then to New Delhi.

Reaching there, they were sold for Rs80,000 to a placement agent named Sagar. Sunny somehow managed to get away from the place and reached Ranchi. He was taken by GRP forces and was later sent to Ranchi. Touching down in Ranchi, he was sent to Premashray. But his aunt is still in the clutches of human traffickers somewhere in Shakurpur in New Delhi.

listening to the teenager, Marandi instructed formation of a special team to to ensure freedom of the trafficked woman. She also asked Inspector General, Central Investigation Department Sampat Meena over a telephonic conversation. Meena promised her personal involvement in bringing back Sunny’s aunt back home.

Marandi attended a total of 68 plaintiffs; most of them came with complaints of land and personal disputes. She talked to associated officials and ordered them to take lawful action in such cases.

Rajni (name changed) came to the public court from East Singhbhum, requesting that her under-trial father is granted provisional bail for two days. The request was made so that she can have the blessings of her father on the day of her marriage.

Requesting to withhold her identity and that of her family members, Rajni said that her father’s application for bail was rejected despite the fact that prison inmates are let out at least to attend their offspring’s marriage. Her mother asserted that her husband has been falsely accused.

“Back in 2009, my husband was wrongly framed by the family members of his alleged victim for murder, when actually he had only arrived at the wrong place in wrong time. It was he who informed the police of the incident and yet was wrongly blamed,” said Rajni’s mother.

listening to their pleas, the Welfare Minister called up IG (Prisons) Arun Kumar Singh to look into the matter and take lawful action. The case is under consideration in Jharkhand High Court.
