As many as 137 Government schools in Palamu are under scanner of the Palamu administration. Government teachers, para teachers and president and secretary of school management committees of these 137 schools did everything to play foul, some even played big foul only to be detected, caught and punished by the administration.
Deputy Commissioner Ameet Kumar said, “The nexus among government teacher – para teacher and two functionaries of school management committees were to get away with as much as 22 crores of government money but a review of these 137 schools took the lid of their cans of corruption.”
Kumar said there was a case where a government teacher even dared to credit government funds to his own savings account. DSE Arbind Kumar said this teacher later coughed up more than a lakh of government money and faced music for this fiscal misconduct.
DC further said there were teachers and para teachers who took advance worth lakhs for construction works in the schools but did not start any construction work, invested the same advanced government money to enlarge their personal fiscal gains.
The DSE said such teachers who took advance money had to cough up `1.50 crore. The number of such teachers is about a dozen.
Many who so invested this government money to enrich their personal fiscal gains hurried to start completing works they had on their hands to do but the works were languishing as the teachers had diverted the money to ward off severe punitive actions.
The DC reiterated the administration acted most tough with such defaulter teachers like suspension, lodging of FIR, departmental proceedings, recovery and repayment, undertaking of work afresh with escalated cost of materials for construction to be borne by the defaulter teachers, para teachers of functionaries of school management committees.
The Government had pooled in money for making additional class rooms, toilets, kitchen sheds, boundary walls etc and here these three wanted to make a big hole of government money. Ameet Kumar said these holes have been plugged and the three warned of severe consequences which will act as a deterrent to many others here.
