Better known as the ‘Queen of Chhotanagpur’ and famous for its sunrise and sunset picturesque, Netarhat in Jharkhand is yet again enjoying the sound of chirping birds mixed with that of light…camera…action from dawn to dusk. National Award winner film maker from the State, Sriram Dalton is holding a 12-day workshop here from Wednesday this week.

Based on the theme of conservation of ‘Water’, the workshop will see active participation of young and aspiring film makers not from Jharkhand only, but from across the country till June 5.

According to Dalton, who hails from Palamau in Jharkhand, primary focus of this workshop is to create awareness about conservation of water among common people across the world in general and people of Jharkhand and other parts of country in particular.  He said that water crisis is a big issue now a day. Sending water through tanker train (in Marathwada) is not something that one would love to see every other day in future. That is why the subject of all the short films produced in this workshop has been confined to conservation of water.

Dalton said that this workshop is open for all those who want a career in film making. lesly lewis, famous composer and contemporary to Oscar winner AR Rehman and Milind Ooke, director of movies like Pathshala and Hanuman, will also be present in the workshop anytime after 30th of this month to provide training and technical know-how of movie making to aspiring movie makers.

Dalton, the director of award winning short film The lost Behrupia, said that he and his team was working on this workshop from several months back and left no stone unturned to make it successful. And he is happy that their efforts has resulted indirectly in establishing Paani Foundation by ace actor Amir Khan and Prime Minister Narendra Modi choosing water as an important issue in his one of radio speeches, Mann Ki Baat.

Film makers and students across globe present here in workshop would produce their films based on the theme under guidance of Dalton.

The films will be of 5-10 minutes in length. Among these, 10 best short films will be shown on the last day of the workshop, which is Environment Day also. These films will be then screened at different platforms across the globe.
