A 100-bed hostel for the tribal girls has been earmarked for the Nilamber Pitamber University. The State tribal co-operative development corporation (TCDC) has made this offer. The Palamu district welfare officer, S Kumar, has confirmed that the TCDC will do the construction of the hostel.
“The hostel will come up in the campus of the YSNM College,” said VC AN Ojha. The VC said the district welfare officer has sent us a letter in this connection following which the professor in-charge of the concerned Mahila College Pratibha Jain has been asked to do the needful.
The district welfare officer has sought details of land for this. For the tribal girls, Daltonganj offers no support shelter scheme. They live with school girls in their hostel. The TCDC’s offer of 100-bed hostel is of the financial year 2013-14. The VC has given strict order to the college concerned to swing into action to realise this.
