With the city under the grip of the second wave of COVID-19 infections since last month, leading health hub Tata Main Hospital (TMH) has observed that vaccination is a more effective way to beat the pandemic.
Addressing the media during a telephonic Press meet, Dr Rajan Choudhry, advisor, COVID-19, Tata Main Hospital said that the hospital is fully prepared to fight the second wave. The hospital has focused on vaccination drive. “ The seriousness of the situation can be gauged from the fact that only 10 days before eights patients were being treated with coronavirus and the numbers have increased to 80 at present,” he said.
He said that increasing the speed of vaccination is the only way to win the battle against the pandemic. The transmission of the viral spread is much more high in the second wave. He said that as the vaccination gathers speed the situation will become normal.
“Though the second wave is much higher in intensity than the first wave, the presence of vaccines makes the difference currently. The vaccine will develop the third immunity to fight the virus,” said Dr Choudhry.
