Political parties will not be allowed to set up their help desks within the 200 meter radius of polling booths during the 17th General Elections in Jharkhand, Additional Chief Electoral Officer Vinay Choubey said on Saturday.
“Political parties must put up their help desks outside the 200 meter radius of any polling booth during the elections,” he said.
Meanwhile, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), L Khiangte chaired a review meeting with concerned officials in Lohardaga collectorate on Saturday.
Khiangte asked the polling officials to ensure facilities for differently-abled voters, proper drinking water and toilet facility at the booths. He also asked the officials present in the meeting to make sure that a medical team is present at all the polling stations for addressing any medical exigency.
The medical team, he said, must have anti-venoms in stock to treat people in case of a snake bite. A majority of the polling booths in Lohardaga are in the rural belt.
Lohardaga will vote on April 29 in the fourth phase of elections in India. This will mark the beginning of the polling process in Jharkhand.
Lohardaga Deputy Commissioner Akansha Ranjan, Inspector General CRPF Sanjay Anand Latkar, IG Operations Ashish Batra and other senior officials from the administration and various law enforcement agencies attended the meeting on Saturday.
