‘Dry weather conditions to prevail across State’

Published on:

Several parts of the State except the north eastern regions have been witnessing a sharp dip in the minimum temperature levels and cold waves for the past 24 hours. Residents can expect a respite from the below normal temperatures from February 4 onwards.

As per the Meteorological Centre, Ranchi, from February 2 to February 4 dry weather conditions will continue to prevail across Jharkhand. No significant change in the weather is being predicted for the next two days. However, from February 4 onwards, the minimum temperature is likely to increase by 2- 3 degree Celsius across the State.

“A rise in the minimum temperature levels is being predicted from February 4 onwards. This will be due to a western disturbance system becoming active in the northern parts of the country. Because of this there will be a cloud cover which will cause an increase in the minimum temperature levels. On February 5 and February 6 some parts of the State may also witness light showers,” said Deputy Director, MET Centre Ranchi Abhishek Anand.

The weathermen further stated that once the cloud cover clears, the minimum temperature will again drop.

According to the MET Centre, Ranchi cold waves are likely to sweep across Palamu, Garhwa, Chatra, Koderma, Latehar, Lohardaga, Ranchi, Ramgarh and Giridih. The Department has also issued a warning stating that children, pregnant women, senior citizens and those suffering with medical conditions need to be extra careful. The bulletin shared by the MET Centre Ranchi on February 1 stated that the lowest temperature recorded across the State in the past 24 hours was at Kanke at 5.2 degree Celsius.
