A 28-year-old specially-abled woman is deprived of the benefits of disability pension. To get her pension approved, she is running from pillar to post for the last two years.
The woman named Jahirun Bibi is 80 per cent blind and her husband is also disabled. He husband Asfaque Ansari , a resident of Karke village under Dandai block about 230 km far from State Capital, said, “I applied for her disability pension in 2016 at Dandai block and later at SDO office, but the application is yet to be approved.”
“Jahirun is visually impaired and she cannot walk even a step without anyone’s help. I am also disabled with both legs. I have to get the help of other people to take my wife somewhere,” he said. “I have visited the Block development office many times in two years, but not even once I got a satisfactory reply. We are poor and disable. We urge the authorities to kindly approve her case,” he added. The couple has two children. The man gets disability pension but his wife is yet to get it.
