Additional Chief Electoral Officer Shailesh Kumar Chaurasia on Sunday told all Election Officers through video conferencing that parties will have to apply for permission to open temporary election office, use loudspeaker, land helicopters and construct helipads at least 48 hours in advance at the service portal.“The applications will have to be scrutinized and approved within the time limit. And the provisions of the Election Commission of India (ECI) are to be followed in letter and spirit while passing the applications,” he said.
He told the election officials that he will take full care of the ECI guidelines while approving or rejecting the applications received on the portal. Chourasia also gave instructions to the election officials regarding the action to be taken during and after the nomination process.
He said that the process of filing nominations for 13 seats in the first phase is over, while the nomination process for the second and third phase is going on, while the notification for the fourth and fifth elections is yet to be released. In such a situation, the election officials were again informed about the action taken during the nomination process in connection with the elections at different stages. All the election officials were made aware of the different steps to be taken for voting after the process of nomination.
He also inquired from the election officials about the availability of EVMs and VVPATs. Elections for the 81 assembly constituencies in Jharkhand will begin on November 30 and end on December 20. The final counting will be done on December 23 and the results will be declared on the same day. According to figures with the ECI, at least 67 of the 81 constituencies here are Left Wing Extremism affected.
Central forces and local police will be deployed in sufficient numbers across all constituencies to maintain law and order and ensure peaceful polls in Jharkhand, ECI has said.
