In a video conferencing with Deputy Commissioners and District Electoral Officers (DEOs) of North Chottanagpur and South Chottanagpur subdivisions on Tuesday, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) L Khiangte asked to ensure the presence of concerned Booth Level Officers (BLOs) in polling booths on March 29 for accepting Form 6 requisitions.
“The BLOs should also provide information to the voters about the location of their polling booth and voters’ list,” Khiangte said.
Khiangte also asked officials to ensure basic facilities for differently-abled voters. He asked the BLOs to ensure available of voters’ slip, voters’ guide and dummy ballot sheer in Braille for visually impaired voters.
The DEOs must meet representatives of political parties and provide training on the use of Suvidha software.
At least 15,831 voters’ slips are being prepared in the Braille script for visually impaired voters in Jharkhand. Besides, Dummy Ballet Sheet and Voters Guide are also being printed in Braille for visually impaired voters in all the districts.
Moreover, out of the 29,464 polling booths in Jharkhand, 28,219 will have ramp facilities for differently-abled voters. At least two master trainers in each district will train poll booth workers in a bid to sensitize them for ethical treatment of differently-abled voters during the polling days in the state.
