After release of the third list of candidates, discontentment in the Congress has come to the fore at various places. Former MlA Yogiraj Singh and his supporters on Wednesday registered strong protest in Raipur against fielding ex-minister Mohd Akbar in Kawardha. Singh’s supporters are demanding to change Akbar.
Similarly, in Mahasamund, protesting the candidature of Agni Chandrakr, Janpad president Chhaya Chandrakar, along with her supporters join the BJP.
Angry over not getting ticket former MlA Yogiraj Singh, along with his hundreds of supporters met state Congress president Dr Charandas Mahant at his residence in Raipur, but he did not give any assurance regarding the ticket. Singh’s supporters shouted slogans outside the residence of Mahant.
Mahant had tried to pacify the angry supporters of Singh. They said that if the Congress would not give ticket, Singh might leave the party and fight election independently. However, Singh did not say anything about it. He said, he would meet senior leaders and make them aware of his feelings.
Yogiraj Singh, a member of the Kawardha royal family, has been MlA for two times. His mother Shashiprabha Devi, father Vishwaraj Singh, uncle Yashwantraj Singh and grandfather Dharmaraj Singh were also MlAs from Kawardha.
In the meanwhile, Janpad president Chhaya Chandrakar, along with her five supporters, has joined the BJP on Tuesday night. She completed the formalities of joining the party in the presence of chief minister Dr Raman Singh at his residence in Raipur. Along with Chhaya, BJP leader Poonam Chandrakar, Chandrahas Chandrakar, Rashi Mahilang, Ethram Sahu and many other senior leaders had reached the chief minister’s residence.
Along with Chhaya Chandrakar, Janpad member TR Dhruv, Bhupendra Dhruv, Bhojraj Dhruv, Khileshwari Parmeshwar Sahu and Subhadra Choudhary also have taken membership of the BJP. Two and half years ago, the Congress had dismissed Dr Rashmi Chandrakar from her post, by passing no-confidence motion against her. Now, Chhaya, along with her five supporters left the party and joined the BJP.
It has been a matter of discussion in the city that earlier, being in the Congress Chhaya had rebelled against the party and grabbed her seat and now, within a few days she changed the party. However, the party leaders consider the hands of some leaders of the party itself behind all these issues. Anyhow, Chhaya’s BJP entry has been considered as a big jolt to the Congress.
