Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee President Bhupesh Baghel on Saturday termed the resignation of Karnataka Chief Minister Yeddyurappa ‘a victory of democracy’.
In a statement Baghel said “the legislators of Karnataka had shown their solidarity on their belief and had slapped on the face of anti democratic forces which were attempting to prove majority on the floor of the House by unfair means’’.
He added that BJP tried to lure the legislators of the other parties by money power but the Congress MlAs remained united.
Meanwhile, Congress leaders burst into celebration in Chhattisgarh soon after Yeddyurappa stepped down as chief minister without facing trust motion.
Congress office bearers and workers celebrated the moment by bursting crackers and dancing to the tune of drum beats.
They also offered sweets to each other to mark the celebration.
