Chhattisgarh Assembly Speaker Dr Charandas Mahant on Thursday administered the oath to newly elected Congress member from Khairagarh, Yashoda Nilambar Verma.
The event was held in Committee Room 1 in the premises of the Assembly.
Verma took the oath in Chhattisgarhi language. After the event, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel formally welcomed the new member with a bouquet.
Cabinet Ministers Ravindra Choubey, T.S. Singh Deo and Amarjeet Bhagat and Lok Sabha member Jyotsana Mahant as well as some MLAs were present.
The Khairagarh assembly seat became vacant after the death of MLA Devvrat Singh of the Janta Chhattisgarh Congress (J). The byelection was held on April 12.
