On the occasion of World Sickle Cell and Blood Donors’ Day, a Sickle Cell examination and Blood Donation Camp was organised in the district hospital. Students, teachers and principals of schools and colleges, officers and employees of health and other departments were present in the camp. Sickle cell examination of 56 people was done and 13 persons donated blood in the camp. A total of 23 blood donors got tested their blood group and consented to donate blood in case of need.
The blood donors would be honoured by presenting them citation.Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr SK Ratre said that on the Blood Donors’ Day being observed from June 14 to July 13, voluntary blood donation and public awareness programmes would be held. Civil Surgeon Dr RK Pardel wished a bright future for the blood donors and solicited their cooperation in future also. He also proposed vote of thanks to the participants of the camp.
