For training teachers and students about maintaining high-tech lab equipment, the  five-day ‘National Workshop on Operation of laboratory Equipment’ (NWOMOlE-2015) began at Pt Ravishankar Shukla University (RSU) here on Monday.Speaker of Chhattisgarh legislative Assembly  Gaurishankar Agrawal inaugurated the workshop. In his address, Agrawal said teaching should be practical oriented and emphasis should be paid on its practical implementation.

“Country needs skilled youths and this is the reason why Chhattisgarh Assembly has passed the Skill Development Bill,” he mentioned. Earlier Vice Chancellor of the University Prof SK Pandey said in present time laboratories are used in almost all realms of education. So it has become important that teachers and students working there should have information about handling, cleaning, calibration and theoretical knowledge related with equipments they are dealing with.

Convener of the Workshop Prof Sanjay Tiwari informed that generally it has been seen that teachers and students are not aware about nature of functioning of different apparatus used in laboratory. In case of some minor malfunctioning is found in the apparatus, they are not able to rectify it. Besides, getting correct reading from very fine equipment by their proper calibration is also a difficult task.

Nowadays, high-tech equipment of measuring Nano-particles are also available. Their maintenance and use as per their nature of apparatus is very essential. To acquaint teachers-students with this kind of works, the national workshop has been organised. Chief Executive Officer CREDA Shailendra Shukla, RSU Registrar KK Chandrakar along with several others were also present on the occasion.
