A day-long seminar titled ‘Diabetes Ko Jane’ (know diabetes) was held at the headquarters of all the State-owned power companies here on Wednesday.

Reasons, cure and misconception about the disease were discussed during the workshop. Chief Health Officer Dr Hl Panchari informed that every year world ‘Diabetes Day’ falls on November 14. “Glucose is the fuel necessary for body but its amount should be balanced. High or low quantity of glucose could be dangerous for the body. Uncontrolled glucose in blood can have bad impact on eyes, kidney, nerves, blood pressure and legs,” Dr Panchari said.

Dr Pankaj Agrwal through a video presentation informed that diabetes has no permanent cure. “Many medicines are flooding the market which claims permanent treatment of diabetes. People should keep themselves away from such medicines and concentrate upon efforts to keep the glucose level balanced,” Dr Agrawal said. Diabetes patients should adopt a positive mindset and should add exercise in their day-to-day routine, Dr Agrawal mentioned.

He was of view that a diabetic patient remains in touch with physicians and hence quickly knows about any new complication developing in the body, while a normal person takes time to know it. Senior Health Officer Dr Vivek Gole also informed the participants about different aspects of diabetes. He told them that taking brown rice, fibrous edibles in food can help in controlling the glucose level.

The occasion was marked with presence of Chairman State Power Company, Shivraj Singh, Chhattisagrh State Power Transmission Company ltd ( CSPTCl) MD Vijay Singh and Chhattisgarh State Power Holding Company ltd (CSPDCl) Anoop Garg.
