The Chhattisgarh government on Thursday declared that workers will get a holiday on January 20 when the state will see polling for the three-tier-Panchayats.
A Labour Department order said a public holiday will be declared that day under the Factories Act 1948 and the Shops and Establishment Act 1958.
It said that in factories which work seven days a week, the workers of the first and second shifts are to be declared a holiday for two hours each on the day of polling.
Instructions have been given to provide the facility of voting by turn.
