Women Self-Help Group of Tarda Gauthan in Raigarh district in Chhattisgarh is weaving Sambalpuri sarees and other dress material.
The weaving unit has been set up under a Rural Industrial Park. The group is also involved in making Odia shirts, suit-pieces and Sambalpuri Kapta patterns (sarees) and pat sarees, an official communication said on Friday.
Officials said the Navsparsh Mahila Group has 22 women. It has five semi-automatic and manual Japanese Jacquard machines. Half the work is done by machines and the fine work on the sarees is done by the weavers.
The cost of a saree ranges from Rs 3,000 to Rs 12,000. The group is getting regular order as Raigarh has a border with Odisha.
