Women in focus in NaMo poll strategy

Bharatiya Janata Party’s Chief campaigner Narendra Modi’s strategy for the Assembly polls in Chhattisgarh is gradually being revealed, with women party workers being assigned the task of being front runners in the election campaign across the State.

This was clearly evident from Chhattisgarh BJP’s Mahila Morcha President Shobha Soni’s statement on Wednesday that the Assembly poll preparation directives are reaching directly to the State Women’s Wing from the  party's central leadership in New Delhi. “We have formed teams of 10 women members for every booth across Chhattisgarh as per the directives of the central leadership. The State Women’s Wing had been receiving directives from the central leadership on poll preparations,” she told mediapersons at a news conference here.

Soni said that the State unit of the party has achieved the target of linking one lakh women with the Chhattisgarh unit of the BJP during the past few days in a State-wide campaign launched in Chhattisgarh. District-level convention of women party workers are being held across the State with such meets already held in five districts mainly Surajpur, Balrampur, Ambikapur, Jushpur and Raigarh ahead of the Aassembly polls in the State. She said that poll-related training for the women party workers would be held on August 13 and 14 in Raipur inwhich the trainees would be taught the skills of poll capacity management and booth management.

A massive gathering of  Mahila Morcha members from across the country would also be held at Talkatora Statdium at part of the party’s ‘Mission 2013-14’ on July 29 which would discuss issues such as rise in prices of various commodities including petroleum prices during the UPA regime, Soni said. The congregation would be attended by senior party leaders such as BJP National President  Rajnath Singh, leader of Opposition in the lok Sabha Ms Sushma Swaraj, leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley besides other senior leaders such as Nitin Gadkari, Venkaiya Naidu , Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh and BJP’s National Mahila Morcha President Saroj Pandey, she said. This would be followed by a three-day national convention in the month of February to be held in New Delhi in which 50,000 women workers are likely to participate from across the country, she added.
