Published on:

Harassment of women is a serious social problem and for uprooting this stigma, every person in society should be educated, stated Dr Carol Patterson, Fullbright fellow and former Professor of New York University.

She was interacting with the students of Kushabhau Thakre University of Journalism and Mass Communication (KTUJM) on Friday.

Dealing with issues related to women she also outlined the difficulty of rape victims.

“Efforts to sensitise social workers and police towards rape victim should be made. Apart from efforts of victim and her family members, social organisations also play a key role in getting justice and they should act in this direction,” Dr Patterson said.

Issues related to women are similar in different nations and domestic violence is a global problem, she said, adding ,there is need to

promote positive thinking towards women in rural areas. later on, she answered queries of students.

Vice Chancellor KTUJM Dr Sachchidanand Joshi at the end of session, honoured Dr Carol Patterson by handing over a memento.
