Women from urban slums are increasingly aware that they can get treated for gynecological problems from Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) in Chhattisgarh.
An official communiqué said on Sunday that 16 percent more women are taking the benefit from the health scheme as compared to males. MMUs operate under the Chief Minister's Slum Health Scheme.
The women earlier used to take medicines prescribed by pharmaceutical stores. Now they consult the doctors in MMUs and take proper treatment of their ailment, the statement said.
The scheme is in operation at the 14 municipal bodies in the state. Nine months after the scheme began, more than 7 lakh patients have benefited.
A total of 41 types of tests are conducted in the mobile units, which also offers other features.
