A 25-year-old woman Maoist carrying a cash reward of Rs3 lakh on her head on Tuesday surrendered in Chhattisgarh’s restive Kondagaon district of Bastar, police said.
Bisanti Netam alias Jano turned herself in before Kondagaon Superintendent of Police (SP) Abhishek Pallav, citing disappointment with the “hollow” ideology of Naxals, according to Kondagaon Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Maheshwar Nag.
She also told the police that she was impressed by provisions of the State Government’s surrender and rehabilitation policy, he said.
Netam, who hails from Dhaudai area in the neighbouring Narayanpur district, was active as member of the Bayanar local guerrilla squad of Maoists, he said, adding that she carried a reward of Rs3 lakh on her head.
She would be provided facilities as per norms of the Government’s surrender and rehabilitation policy, Nag said.
