Chhattisgarh Police on Monday arrested a woman who impersonated as a police officer and extorted Rs 18 lakhs from a doctor over two years after falsely accusing him of rape in Durg city.
Durg Superintendent of Police Dr Abhishek Pallava identified her as Rashmi Kumawat of Rajasthan.
The Durg-based doctor had lodged a case with the police in May.
After being arrested, Kumawat told the police that she lived in Durg city a few years and was a doctor's patient.
When she shifted to Rajasthan, she planned to blackmail the doctor posing as police officer in a false rape case.
